How to create a new email account
We use the ISPConfig (https://www.ispconfig.org/) admin interface for managing our servers and you can use a cut-down version to manage your web and mail hosting services.
This tutorial explains how to create a new mailbox for your domain using ISPConfig.
You will need to login with your customer account credentials. These were supplied by us when we created your hosting package.
Step by step…
- Login at https://mailbox.grindersbox.com:8080 using your customer account credentials;
- Go to “Email” – large icon and text at the top of the page;
- Click “Email mailbox” from the left-hand menu;
- Click the green “Add new mailbox” button at the top of the page;
- At a minimum you must give the email a name;
- Create a password;
- Quota is the size limit of your mailbox (choose something sane based on the overall limit for your package – so if you have 10 mailboxes and a 40GB(40000MB0 total limit then you could set all to 4GB(4000MB), or some more or less depending on likely use). You can always go back and change how much space a mailbox can have. So, If you have an account that is using less than 300MB you can adjust that account to 500MB giving you an extra 3500MB to use on another account.
- Setting the spam filter to “normal” will provide some default protection. . You can experiment with this setting later to fine tune things;
- Enable greylisting – greylisting is a method of protecting you from spam but can delay email delivery as much as 15 Minutes. If email is not time sensitive to you then we suggest turning this on.
- Email filter tab you may want to enable Move Spam Emails to Junk directory.
- Backup Tab – This allows you to backup and store a compressed version of your email (This does use you email storage space for this) This is good if you this is good if you or something deletes your email.
- It takes a couple of minutes for changes made in the admin interface to be rolled out to the mail server, but you can test you mailbox setup by visiting https://mailbox.grindersbox.com/webmail soon after;
Additional settings (eg autoresponders, forwarders) can either be set here, via ISPConfig, or directly via the RoundCube webmail interface.
